November 28, 2011 Stay Safe names Matt Powers as Director of Security, Compliance and Certifications Joe Humphrey, Senior Vice President, Stay Safe Solutions, announced today the appointment of Matt Powers as Director of Security, Compliance and Certifications for document, hard drive and e-media destruction services. Matt Powers is a former deputy police chief with the Sacramento Police Department. As a peace officer he served in multiple assignments, including: patrol officer, SWAT and crime suppression sergeant, administrative lieutenant, senior patrol captain, chief of investigations, and the chief of field operations. He left the Sacramento Police Department to become a vice president for Raley's, the 27th largest supermarket chain in the nation, and the 11th largest privately owned company in California, with annual revenues exceeding $3 billion, where he helped develop their strategic plan. With his combination of private and public safety experience, he was selected as the General Manager for California's Prison Industry Authority, providing goods and services to the public sector and employment skills to inmates. He is presently an adjunct professor for American River College, where he teaches administration of justice and public safety classes. Matt has served as an expert witness and consult on policing management issues. He graduated with a bachelors degree in criminal justice, with honors, from California State University at Sacramento, and a masters of science in management from Cal-Poly Pomona. He is a Vietnam era U.S. Navy veteran.
